[EQL] A Waiting Game

I learned yesterday that the reduced experience you get when playing with others in EverQuest Legends is unintentional – and then I was excited, because it sounded like it was going to be fixed at the next update, which we all assumed would be Tuesday, August 11th.

Except then they made this announcement.

Bi-weekly schedule is fine, but I was really counting on them fixing this glitch. It just doesn’t feel good to earn significantly less experience in a group than by yourself. In fact it actively discourages me from grouping with my partner, because I know we could both be earning so much more if we played apart.

So for now, I’ll continue to wait.

[EQL] Look Ma! 46!

At level 46 you are finally allowed into the planes and so of course I immediately grouped up with the husband (who hit 50 earlier on in the day) and off we went.

The zones were HARD, but supposedly we’re equal to 6 players, even though it sure didn’t feel like it.

I also somehow accidentally spent 150 motes upgrading a level 40+ bard charm spell that I did NOT mean to upgrade quite so much. That used up ALL of my T1 motes, and while I can charm up to 58 now which is pretty neat, it was NOT what I had intended on doing with those motes.

I also decided to (once again) change my class. I’m dropping bard to grab enchanter. I also decided why not level up druid, since I hadn’t before and I want the ports / rituals. Yes, this puts me right back down at level 10, but I feel like that is perfectly fine as long as I’ve got a few max level when the next expansion comes out, which should be sometime this winter. Anyway. We’ll see how it goes.

Happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself!

[EQL] Down Goes Nagafen

I wasn’t quite 40 yet on my ‘new’ character combination, I’m still working my way through Splitpaw and Guk at level 35 – but I swapped back to the old paladin / beastlord / rogue trio and me and the other half decided we would attempt to slay Nagafen and just see how it went.

To enter a raid zone in EverQuest Legends, you need to talk to an ooze NPC who resides outside. I admit, this confused me, I now don’t understand the point of non-respawning instances as I thought those were for raid mobs. Nope!

Anyway. We cleared our way there, taking down the mini bosses and giants without too many issues. My husband is playing a Shadowknight, Enchanter, Wizard combination and was level 45, so he absolutely could have solo’d the entire thing. One pull, no deaths (minus my pet, does that even count) and Naggy fell.

We got some loot – but I got 2 pieces (plus a mote that lets me upgrade my gear) and he received a lot more. Maybe it was based on his level, or the damage he did? No idea. In any case, doing this one dragon showed me how much I wanted to get my ‘new’ combination of characters to 40+ and how much pet classes have been nerfed. My level 40 beastlord has a level 39 pet who summons at level 31. Not fun when you’re fighting reds.

Here’s hoping this weekend I can catch up a bit. I’m finding leveling a bit more of a slog, I don’t enjoy the zones I’m in and I need a lot of CC to keep everything straight. I know I’ll get there, but it’s a bit ‘slow’ compared to the rest of the race.

As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.

[EQL] Leveling More Characters? Of Course

After reaching level 40 on my paladin / beastlord / rogue – I decided to swap. Of course I did. I didn’t feel like the beastlord was really pulling any weight for the group, so I swapped around to a warrior / rogue / bard combination and then when I hit level 24 I changed that warrior back to the paladin that I’ve been playing to toss a few heals into the mix. So far it has been going amazingly well.

I use offense stance along with spell blade, and I put my heals into that first slot to trigger spell blade, so as I melee, I heal myself. Then I have lay on hands and single target heals if those don’t work out.

With the bard I’ve got some tracking, and songs have 2 methods of playing in EQL. There’s the usual ‘melody’ method that I’m used to, and then there’s also an AA called Symphonic Aura.

The aura will auto play buffs starting at the bottom of your spell bar, I think it can handle 5 or so. Right now I have four playing, and then I have melody handling the rest. The rogue has 4 poisons up, and I feel like all of the characters are pulling their weight in this combination.

The downside is that I had to start back at level 10, so I’ve been working on climbing my way back to 40+. Whether or not I get there before I get distracted by the next shiny? Well. Who knows.

As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself!

[EQL] Ding, 40

I started the day yesterday at level 36, and by the end of it I had accomplished my goal of reaching level 40. It took me a bit to find a zone I felt comfortable in. I went to Kedge Keep (and underwater zone), Guk, and Splitpaw. The experience really slows down as you near ‘end game’ and it didn’t feel like things were flowing as smooth as they used to, so it did take me some time to get these levels. As I mentioned before, it feels like you’re actively punished for grouping with other people, so me and my husband opted to go down different roads and play together but not ‘together’ as it were. It worked out for both of us, but is NOT my optimal play method. I’m hoping once we’re 50 and start farming raid mobs we’ll join back up together.

I got a flowing black silk sash for my pet, and a few other odds and ends that I hope to level up over time. Nothing exciting to write home about – which is perfectly ok. I’m still currently playing a Paladin / Beastlord / Rogue combination, but I will probably change in the future. To what? No idea, we’ll just have to see.

As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself!
