[EQL] Down Goes Nagafen

I wasn’t quite 40 yet on my ‘new’ character combination, I’m still working my way through Splitpaw and Guk at level 35 – but I swapped back to the old paladin / beastlord / rogue trio and me and the other half decided we would attempt to slay Nagafen and just see how it went.

To enter a raid zone in EverQuest Legends, you need to talk to an ooze NPC who resides outside. I admit, this confused me, I now don’t understand the point of non-respawning instances as I thought those were for raid mobs. Nope!

Anyway. We cleared our way there, taking down the mini bosses and giants without too many issues. My husband is playing a Shadowknight, Enchanter, Wizard combination and was level 45, so he absolutely could have solo’d the entire thing. One pull, no deaths (minus my pet, does that even count) and Naggy fell.

We got some loot – but I got 2 pieces (plus a mote that lets me upgrade my gear) and he received a lot more. Maybe it was based on his level, or the damage he did? No idea. In any case, doing this one dragon showed me how much I wanted to get my ‘new’ combination of characters to 40+ and how much pet classes have been nerfed. My level 40 beastlord has a level 39 pet who summons at level 31. Not fun when you’re fighting reds.

Here’s hoping this weekend I can catch up a bit. I’m finding leveling a bit more of a slog, I don’t enjoy the zones I’m in and I need a lot of CC to keep everything straight. I know I’ll get there, but it’s a bit ‘slow’ compared to the rest of the race.

As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.

  1. Kasul thought I should be killing hill giants at 20, where they were 34-38. I could kill them, but it was slow. The money and XP was good. I instead went to Befallen where I could kill quickly and get pretty more XP for time spent. Granted I am just 26 with the current combo, but I think steamrolling lower level zones is going to be what does it for me rather than taking on challenging content. I do plan to spend a fair amount of time in Mistmoore at 30. That definitely seems steamroll-able.
