[WoW] A Tour You Won’t Find in the Brochures

Most tour guides will show you the grand gates of Stormwind, talk about noble kings, heroic statues, and all that very polished, very approved history.

I show you the cheese smuggler.

“Stay close,” I whisper to my group, ushering them down a side alley that absolutely isn’t on any official map. “You see that crate? Marked ‘grain?’ That’s not grain. That’s illegal Dalaran triple-cream. Worth more than gold per wedge. Try not to make eye contact. He can smell curiosity.”

They usually make eye contact.

We leave very quickly.

Next stop is Orgrimmar.

Now, most people will point out the Valley of Strength, maybe say something inspiring about honor. I nod, very respectful. Then I guide my group just slightly off the beaten path.

“Over here,” I say, lowering my voice. “This is where three separate ‘totally legitimate’ businesses are all selling the same crate of ‘fresh’ fish.”

A goblin across the way waves at me.

I wave back.

“Don’t ask how long that fish has been traveling,” I add quickly. “It’s had more adventures than you.”

One of the tourists looks a little green. I hand them a mint.

Finally, I bring them somewhere really educational: Booty Bay.

“Oh, you’ll love this one,” I say, clasping my hands together. “Pirates, trade, exotic goods—very lively! Also, absolutely nobody here pays full price for anything, ever.”

I lead them past a cheerful bar, then subtly point upward.

“You see that window? Third one on the left? That’s where a very famous noble once tried to auction off a ‘cursed love letter.’ Turned out it was just badly written.”

I pause.

“…I may have bought it.”

The group laughs. I don’t clarify.

By the end of the tour, they’ve seen less marble and more… questionable destinations. Which, in my professional opinion, is the real Azeroth.

As we part ways, one of them asks, “How do you know all this?”

I adjust my satchel, offering a perfectly innocent smile.

“Oh, I travel,” I say lightly. “I listen. I notice things most people overlook.”

I pause, then add, just a touch quieter:

“And sometimes… I write them down.”

[WoW] Gold Making Wrap Up: Week 16 (2026)

This week was pretty smooth as far as sales go, I’ve started leaving my auctions for 48h, in the hopes that I don’t have to babysit them quite as much. My stock is mostly older items, nothing is from Midnight, and only a handful of items even come from The War Within. These are pets, transmog, recipes, and other curiosities that span across the older expansions. People who purchase from me are usually either gold goblins hoping to flip it on another server, or collectors.

Anyway, I may not be pulling in as much gold as the big players out there, but a million or two a week is a good amount for the effort I put in, I feel. It’s 30 minutes of posting every two days, and some restocking here and there when required.

What do I do with my gold? Well, I pay for everything I can with it. Whether that’s expansions, store items, game time. I also gift a large amount to friends, because what is the point of all of this gold if I can’t share it with others. Eventually you get to a point where you don’t even really think about it any more. Ideally I’d like to get to 100m liquid (I reached this in The War Within, but it has been some time now) and then we’ll see where things are.

As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.

[WoW] Week 15 Gold Making Wrap Up (2026)

This week I made a total of 2,098,336g and I didn’t have any purchases, so that was nice. The thing is, I barely did any gold making at all this week. I started off with good intentions, wanting to make sure all of my auctions were restocked and posted, but before long I fell off. Life being what it is, I just didn’t have the spoons to do everything that I wanted to do, so something had to take a back seat. In this case, it was World of Warcraft. I didn’t even get my weekly completed (I’m hoping to work on all of that tonight before reset happens tomorrow, but if it doesn’t work out that’s no big deal, we do what we can).

As you can see my sales were all over the place, a few recipes, some transmog. Nothing important of note. I imagine I’m selling to a lot of other goblins who are hoping to make a profit, or maybe the odd collector here and there. Still, 2 million gold is at least some gains, and next week is a new week.

As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.

[WoW] Week 14 Gold Making Wrap Up (2026)

This was a week of really big sales (but not that many over all), I made a total of 2.9 million gold, but I also didn’t post for a few days as real life took over (happy Easter for anyone who celebrated, and Happy First Contact day)! I can’t even remember what I spent the 30k on, I think it was a housing item or two I had found that I didn’t have yet, and maybe some flips I had found. The biggest sales this week actually came from Moon Guard, which is not usually one of my better performing servers, so I was surprised. Someone bought a transmog shirt (again) and I am of course thankful for it.

I did get into the Firelands raid for some gear upgrades, and I also did Prey to boost my vault for the week. Here’s hoping I get some great sales the upcoming week!

[WoW] Week 13 Gold Wrap Up (2026)

I spent a LOT of gold this week, 1.2 million – on housing items. I bought every crafted item I could because there is just no way I’m harvesting lumber except to get the achievement associated with it. I simply do not enjoy harvesting. In fact you can use that as my “huh something is wrong with Stargrace” fact if you ever see me actively harvesting.

Sales this week were great, over 5 million for once – but a lot of that came from a single sale. There was 1 sale for 1.8 million gold that happened with a no longer obtainable transmog, I believe it was a shirt.

Mid week the sales slowed down – but that’s mostly because I didn’t post my auctions back up after they had expired. I was working on doing my weeklies, dungeons, raids, and all of that good stuff. Sometimes, I’m just not into it. That’s OK though, after being in the game for this long it’s not really a big deal if I don’t post for a day or two.

I continue to post on my top 10 earning servers, the others have mostly fallen by the wayside. I am sure I could eek out a bit more gold if I were to continue to post on all of the servers I was on previously, but it’s a lot of time for very little return. Eventually I might get back to it, but for now I’m happy with how things are going.

I hope everyone else is having a lovely time in Warcraft, remember that you’re more than welcome to play your way, no matter what that ‘way’ is. Don’t let others talk you out of it. As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.
