[WO] Friendship Bay Summer Impalong (2026)

This year is the 9th year that the Friendship Bay Summer Impalong has been taking place – and I’m once again attending (and so happy to be here). I sailed to Pristine with Stargrace (my main) and Faralithe (my Fo priest) way too early, but that’s OK, there were already a bunch of other people around, waiting for things to get started. A sea serpent tried to take a bite out of us as we sailed past, too. Rude!

Impalongs are a time honoured tradition in Wurm Online. They’re player run events where you get gear / weapons and tools, etc improved by players who have skills higher than your own. It’s perfect for newer players. If you’re a veteran player or you happen to have some great skills, you can work on improving other peoples items, and give back to the community that way. There’s also contests and competitions that have evolved over the years, and neat prizes that can be won. This year I noticed there are some dye kits that I would absolutely love to get my hands on.

It runs for 5 days, and I imagine I will try to stick around for its entirety. My priest is already at 100 faith, but I’m trying to work on her channeling. It’s slow. Very slow. I’ve left my other priest (Vynora) back home to take care of things while I’m away. I imagine there will be a post or two coming in the future about my adventures here, right now there are 16 others wandering around, and we’re still a few hours from the actual start.

As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.

[WO] Green Dragon Slaying

Moumix reminded me that there was a dragon slaying taking place on release, but for some reason my mind saw that as a drake* slaying, and I assumed we’d be getting a piece of leather instead of a piece of scale. It was a pleasant surprise when I noticed the scale. I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to keep it or sell it, I have a set of drake that I finally finished not too long ago (even if it is all sorts of colours combined) but I am very far away from ever owning a scale set. I think I might have enough scale at this time to create a single glove.

That IS how I managed the drake set, little pieces here and there until I completed the set. It took me a number of years, so I’m not exactly confident that I’ll get a scale set any time soon. It might be better to just sell the scale, and use it for other items.

Anyway. There were about 300 people in local, which seems fairly regular for these types of events. Afterward I took my characters back to Deliverance, where I’ve been working away on my deed. I need approximately 3,000 more bricks and mortar, and I am all out of slate so that means I need to do some mining. In the meantime, to procrastinate, I’m working on my leatherworking. I just reached 80 skill, and I am trying to push for 90. Then it will be time to continue the push in weapon smithing. I believe I’m at 60 right now, but I’d like that skill to be closer to 90, too. Unfortunately it is a very annoying skill to work on.

Then there’s meditation. I’ve got 60 skill right now, but I’d love to be closer to 70. None of these skills are ‘hard’ per say, they just take time. A lot of time.

As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself!

[EVE] An Astrahus for One

Well. So far I’ve been left in peace to do my thing in the wormhole I’m currently living in. Will it always be that way? Nope. But for now, it’s lovely.

I’ve been huffing, mining, exploring, hacking – your usual wormhole activities. I keep my eyes peeled for a nice exit to high sec and every once in a while I’m rewarded. I’m trying to make sure I keep it quiet, there’s no fancy ships or expensive components around. When I do lose the structure it won’t be a big deal. Honestly it’s not so different from my backpack adventures. A bit less portable, I suppose.

I might train my 2nd account into an Odysseus, or maybe pick up an Orca. I’d like to leave most of my materials and supplies outside of the station so that when shit hits the fan I’ve already been evacuated and won’t have to struggle too much to get everything sorted. Leave one of my alts as the pilot of the ship, and it sound be fairly easy.

We’ll see how that goes.

As always, fly your way! o7

[WoW] Back to the Beginning…

In an effort to ‘fake it until you make it’ I decided to dive head first back into World of Warcraft. This is an easy game to do that in, because honestly, nothing changes. There is a main story, some public quests, a weekly quest or two, and the gear grind. I queued up for some raids (which took me 40 minutes to get in as a healer on a Thursday, this is one of my biggest issues with the trinity gameplay of World of Warcraft) and then did some delves, and then also did some Timewalking (which happens to be Battle for Azeroth this week, not my favourite). I upgraded a few pieces of gear, made note that I need to actually work on the story line sometime (remember way back when, I had completed it on my Paladin and then decided not to play her any more) and tried to remember if I even cared about the storyline of Midnight. The answer to that – nope.

Before I knew it time had passed and it was time to get ready for lunch. Was this meaningful gameplay? Not at all. Was it fun? Hmm. I suppose, in a way. It was comfortable, dependable, and exactly what I was expecting from World of Warcraft, despite being ‘away’ for a number of months.

Will I continue? Well. I will make an effort to, but we’ll just have to see. The more I play other games like GW2 and even to some degree, EQL, the less I enjoy having to rely on others to provide the trinity in order for me to get anything done in game. Now, I know you do not HAVE to do all of the things that require a trinity, but then it feels a bit like you’re missing out and you are absolutely shuffled towards that method of gameplay. It’s just not really for me any more.

As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.

[Life] When you’re not sure what to Play…

This week has been one of the most difficult weeks I’ve ever had – and thankfully I can see a light at the end of the tunnel, but I’m not quite there yet. I’ve been trying to lean on my go-to during stressful times, which is gaming – but I have not been feeling it at all. A combination of reasons, really.

So I log into Wurm, do a task or two, then log out. Log into World of Warcraft, post some auctions, log out. Log into EVE, claim my daily (I’m not even sure what these ones are for to be honest) and log out. Rinse, repeat. No meaningful gaming happening what so ever. GW2? Barely. EQL? Not since Belghast passed away.

I keep searching for something. I’m not even sure what. I suppose it’s community of some sort. I think it was Tipa who mentioned that gaming alone in an MMORPG is just … not fun. You might as well be playing a single player game. I agree to some level, but I think we need to actively seek out those communities we crave, and insert ourselves into them and then move forward from there. I’m too used to watching everyone else do their thing while I’m just.. here. Awkwardly.

I unfortunately just don’t have it in me right now. So I’ll continue to wander from game to game, and craft to craft until something changes, or I start to feel that tug that I’ve been waiting for. Hopefully next week will be better.

As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.
