A Wormlife Truce

I mentioned in a previous post that there was some drama going on with the Wormlife freeports, and true to my impartial nature, I stayed completely out of it and just waited for things to either escalate, or pass. I temporarily left the channel for the wormlife freeport that I had been using as my base of operations with my signal cartel character, and was very pleased when a few weeks later this diplomatic cease-fire was announced.

Life in my wormhole returns to normal, and I continue to tend caches and explore about on my own – there have been some new people who moved in, which includes a new structure for industry minded folks, but I have mostly kept to myself so that I didn’t inadvertently break some part of the credo while there was a war going on in system.

I did take some time this week to move my huffing ships back, I left my PI ships in system as I had a pilot for each so it wasn’t that big of a deal.

As always, fly your way! o7

Flagged for the Planes

An Easter event started on The Heroes’ Journey EMU this weekend, which brought a 50% experience bonus, and little eggs that randomly drop as you kill things that grant experience. You can then level up those eggs to enchanted/legendary and open them for all sorts of goodies. A lot of appearance gear (known as glamours in this version of the game), titles, augments, and the one item I really wanted to get my hands on – a 48 slot 100% weight reduction bag – not lore.

I decided to create a new character for some fun times, and settled on a warrior/berserker/rogue combination. TONS of fun – thanks to the event, it wasn’t long before THAT NIGHT I was up to 2,100 AA which was almost 1,000 AA more than my ‘main’. Whewps.

I also managed to get two of the legendary bags, I sold one for 90k and that doubled my available income. I kept the second bag. I sold most of the augments I had collected, along with the glamours, and the pet wands. It was a lot of plat. I used that money to fully deck out the new character, and I had an absolute blast just grinding in Dragon Necropolis.

Eventually it was time to head back to my main and continue on progression. My husband is playing a Berserker/Rogue/Monk character, and I play a Cleric/Enchanter/Ranger – we had very little issues with any of the progression, since I can offer up the big heals as well as cures, and he did almost all of the DPS / tanking. Even though I’m only at 1500aa or so it is enough to do what I need. The other half has over 2,000aa and he’s able to tank pretty well even though he is not a traditional tank class.

At the end of the weekend we found ourselves farming in Plane of Water, and Plane of Fire (which is where most people grind out AA at level 65) – oh, did I mention we had also grinded to 65? That was done back in Dragon Necropolis. The mobs were light blue by then but with the experience bonus it was still pretty nice. The ‘grind’ of traditional EverQuest doesn’t really exist here on this EMU.

One of the perks of this server is that you can lower/raise your level using plat, so I decided to lower back down to 56 to continue grinding AA in DN, which is easier to solo than PoF. The Coral Hilted Tulwar from Plane of Water is an easy camp and goes for 10-12k right now, so I set up my trader for the night and pulled in more than enough plat to cover the cost of my leveling / deleveling habits.

In any case, I’m still having a lot of fun with this EMU. I’ve got one level 65 character, two level 56 characters, and one still locked at 30 (that’s my magician/necro/beastlord pet character). Overall I find it easier to play a pure melee build, but to get to the big kid stuff you’ll either need to buddy up with someone who can heal / cure, or take a fancy combination of classes who can handle that. It’s certainly nothing like the EverQuest that we grew up with, but it’s a lot of fun and the community has been lovely (most of the time, as always, there are exceptions). Happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.

It’s PoP Time, Baby!

This weekend was spent hunting down various named through Luclin, and eventually ending at working for bane weapons to defeat the bosses in SSRA – which we did. It took some time, we had to farm the basement for some green mist ore, do a combine with some shissar weapons, and then actually defeat the named – which I feel was our most difficult encounter so far, because there was a nasty slow that curse that needed to be cured.

Speaking of cured – that’s right, I can now cure. I’ve dropped my beastlord spec and instead decided to go cleric. So at the time of this post, I’m a cleric, ranger, enchanter. Having complete heal at this stage of the game is pretty much a requirement. I’m a ranger for the forage ability (I didn’t want to go druid, and those are the only ones who have the proper forage), enchanter so I can enchant metals for my crafting, and now cleric to help with progression.

Now that Plane of Knowledge is FINALLY unlocked, I can hang out there to tradeskill – except the machines are usually already all being used. Oof. I did get baking to 45 – thank you Batwing Crunchies.

Next? Well, we’ve completed flagging in plane of disease, and plane of innovation – we’ve also taken down thule (I was having too much fun and did not get screenshots of any of this). I believe up next we’re doing the trials of Justice, but I’m not 100% sure. I’m also leveling up my class idol and finally have something in the charm slot.

Over all? Still having a lot of fun – I’m excited about maybe getting into plane of time before too long (this has only been released 2-3 weeks or so now). As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.
