[EVE] Debris Field

I found myself thinking about the bench again today.

Not a real bench, of course. Capsuleers don’t spend much time on planets. But in my mind, it always existed somewhere beneath a Gallente sky, overlooking distant city lights. A place where two people could always meet, no matter how complicated life became.

At least, that was the promise.

The trouble with promises is that they only work when both people mean them.

For a long time, I believed there would always be a seat waiting for me there. That no matter how many jumps separated us, no matter how many years passed, we’d eventually find our way back to that spot and talk about life for a while.

I know better now.

The promise wasn’t broken all at once. It died slowly. By the time I understood what had happened, the bench was already gone.

Blown apart.

By being treated like an option instead of a person.

I sat cloaked in my Helios beside a forgotten wormhole for a while, watching stars drift across the canopy. In EVE, when a structure is destroyed, all that’s left is a wreck and a killmail. Clean. Simple.

Real life isn’t nearly so tidy.

Eventually, I sighed and closed the old memories like an abandoned bookmark folder.

I aligned toward home, engaged warp, and began the familiar journey back to my Wormlife freeport. The stars stretched into lines, the wormhole chain waited ahead, and for the first time in a long while, I stopped looking for a seat that no longer existed.

[WO] The Priest Deed Continues

I’m currently out of slate bricks, so I have to spend a few days mining, and then a few days making bricks, and then come back to my deed and continue building the structure that will house my priests. I want this deed to be functional, and so far that seems to be working just fine. I want things for priests to do (they cannot imp, but they can create) to skill up, while they pray and obtain maps.

I also went back to Independence and grabbed all of my PMK banners to put on display here. I have the capybara collection at my main deed on the Independence server, the flags on display at my 2nd place on Indy, and now the banners on display here. Gives it a little bit of colour, and I like the look of it.

How much longer until the whole thing is built? I imagine it will take a few more months yet, unless I buy bricks from someone, which isn’t out of the question.

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself!

[GW2] Skyscale – Obtained

One of my main GW2 goals was to obtain skyscale, a mount that lets you (in a way) fly. There are two ways to get skyscale, through living world season 4 (the original method) which I am told is incredibly difficult and lengthily – and then the newer, better, shorter method: Secrets of the Obscure.

Step one is to find an abandoned egg. This took me quite a bit of time because once you look for the locations they’re done for that week. Once I had the egg, I got the rest of skyscale in a single day. Now, part of this is because I had already been working through the Secrets of the Obscure story, and I had been doing a lot of rifts, meta, and map completion. I also had a hefty number of supplies stockpiled, so when it came time to pick up my Provisioner Tokens, I was all set.

The skyscale food is also locked behind a 1x a day craft – but you can buy it on the auction house, so I splurged, dropped 45g, and did that. I did not want to wait 12 days to complete this quest if I didn’t have to.

The “hardest” part for me was actually unlocking the full mastery that is required – thankfully the Wizard’s Vault came in handy here, you can buy mastery experience. I did that to get the last little bit I needed. I’m very glad to be done, I hear that it makes working through other maps a bit easier, plus further on in the game everyone just sort of assumes you have a skyscale too. What’s up next for me in GW2? I’m not quite sure. I was thinking of working on the latest expansion – visions of Eternity, and then going backwards from there. I also think I want to play my Mesmer, and not the Guardian as I have been playing so far. I enjoy the class a lot, but she doesn’t have much done in the way of story / progression. Absolutely not needed though, as most things are account wide.

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself.

Happy 20th Blog Birthday

That’s right, I’ve been posting here for 20 years as of today. That’s almost half of my life (I’m 45) talking about video games and life. The address might have changed over time (this blog was originally called MmoQuests, if you’ve been around for that long) but things have stayed pretty steady, both in the games that I choose to play, and my hobbies and interests.

What has changed in that time?

Moved across the country. Worked for a real video game company (Carbine Studios). Got married. Worked for NCSoft. Had one kid. Moved to the middle of the country. Had another kid. Moved all the way to the other side of the country (with more moves in the far future). I’ve grown up. My ideas, thoughts, and what I hold precious to me has changed. I really like who I am as a person these days. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished, even though it does NOT look like what I imagined for myself. That’s OK. I’m still learning to be flexible, and I’m still trying to figure some things out – but hopefully we’ll see me writing here for another 20.

Happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.

[WoW] Gold Making Wrap Up – Week 25 (2026)

It’s another week where not too much gold making actually happened, but some of that is because I didn’t get to post my auctions the way I had wanted. See, I was swapping from a 48h timer to a 24h timer, and needed to let them expire, and then I waited too long and I wanted to post them in the early morning hours, and not later in the day – so I had to wait until Saturday. I THINK everything is sorted now and it should be all on track.

That means I actually need to log in, of course. I’m thinking that first thing in the morning will be the best time for me to do this. It’s the habit I had built for years, and is simple to remember. I have roughly an hour in the mornings before the house wakes up, and that’s when I get a lot of my blogging / journaling / gaming chores done. Of course this is also the last week of school before summer break, so my mornings will be changing slightly (in a good way, giving me even more free time).

So, this week the profit was 500k, not a huge amount. That’s alright. We’re still earning, and smaller profits add up. Sales this week were a handful of transmog, and nothing special besides that. As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.
