The Couple that Games Together

Me and my husband met back in EverQuest II many years ago. We lived long distance, so we gamed together. It’s what strengthened our relationship, and while neither of us has the time we used to, we still try really hard to get some game time in together.

These days we’re not playing MMOs together any more – but we’ve started playing Divinity Original Sin II – something I’ve had in my library for some time, but never really put any time towards. So far, it is fantastic. The story is interesting, and there are so many options and secrets and little hidden quirks to find out. We’ve just made our way past the very first chapter, and I can’t wait to see what else there is in store.

Next?

I’m honestly not sure what project to pick up next now that I’ve finished my massive shawl (that I adore). It’s blocked and almost ready to wear, I have a few small things to fix (like dropped stitches that I’ve picked up with stitch markers to fix at a later time). I’m thinking it MIGHT be time to bring out the Silver Bell Sweater that I’ve had in time out since December. I could almost stomach fixing it. I think.

Deed Update

Working on my deed has gotten a lot slower lately, but I’m certainly still pushing at it. The main portion is ‘complete’ (the town) with just a few details being added here and there. The next big part is to complete the plaza, which is an enormous shopping square, 4-16 floors high with different tiers. Then I want to decorate that, so that people can peek into the shops and see various items for sale, or just look around the pub. It’s an enormous project that requires a LOT of raw materials, and I’m having difficulty keeping it stocked, especially when the contract this time around is for 10,000 mortar. The payment for that amount of work is horribly low, so I’m not actually sure I’ll even bother. I think I could make better use of the mortar just using it for myself, or even selling it later to players.

Still, things sure are looking beautiful.

Stillness Shawl – Completed

I am finally done my Stillness shawl (pattern is from Ravelry) after having started it February 1st. I am so proud of myself for knitting such a large project and actually sticking with it. What I did to help myself along was to actually print out the pattern and assign rows to specific days as goals. This way I wasn’t overwhelmed with a whole lot of knitting, and if I wanted to work ahead I could. Some days I didn’t knit at all, and instead I knit twice as much on other days. It was the perfect way to keep me in line.

There are mistakes, but I still love every inch. I’m also ready for a new less time intensive project next. I have a pair of socks to finish off, and then we’ll see what is next.

(Yet Another) Hobby

I have always been fascinated with miniatures. Everything from those travel sized shampoo bottles, to miniature toys, and food. I recently was gifted some polymer clay and tools – so I decided to try my hand at making miniature bread! It’s air dry clay, with chalk pastels for the colour. There are numerous ways of achieving the texture and colour of bread, you can wait until the piece dries, or in my case, you can apply the pigment right to the fresh clay. Unfortunately if you do it that way you lose a little of the detail because of the brush. Still, for my very first attempt, I’m quite excited!

I also bought two smaller shadow boxes and I have plans of creating some scenes inside of them. One will be quails (naturally) since they’re amazing, and the second one I think I’m going to turn into some sort of book nook. I might just turn it into a yarn / knitting / spinning scene instead though. I haven’t decided.
