Daily Quests, 600 Pets, and MORE!

When I found my new home in WoW I knew I’d probably want to bring over a level 110 character (and some money) instead of leveling from scratch. I’ve only got two 110 characters right now, a priest, and a hunter. My priest was also horde, so I faction changed and swapped servers. Was it worth it?

Well, I’ve only been on the server a few days now, but I’m enjoying myself. There’s no pressure, guild is active and friendly, and I’ve just been puttering about doing my own thing because chances are I have to randomly AFK. I don’t mind paying for server transfers and faction changes if I’m confident that the place I end up is going to be a good fit. I have made the mistake in the past of transferring only to have the guild disband but I don’t let that cloud future prospects.

Yesterday I managed to earn the achievement of owning 600+ unique pets. I did splurge a bit of coin on collecting the last few I needed, but I’m tickled that I got the achievement (which of course gave me a pet). I believe there are also pet battle scenarios now – no idea what is involved in that but I’m looking forward to trying them out! For now I’ve just been doing my daily / weekly quests. I’m holding off on turning them in until after the update tomorrow because I hear there’s better rewards being added. I haven’t done anything on the broken shore, and my artifact power is only 16/40 (I find this slow to level up) but playing casual is exactly what I wanted to do. Content should last me a REALLY long time.

Tomorrow? It’s back to fishing.

Bigger Fish to Fry

One really easy thing for me to jump into game and do when I may not have a lot of time and I don’t know how long the time I do have is going to last, is fishing.

I’ve parked myself down in the little pond below Dalaran, and I’m currently fishing up Drowned Manas for Conjurer Nargoss. I’m also hoping to catch a Mark of Aquaos, which will help spawn a creature and grant a buff to let more Drowned Manas spawn.

While fishing I got some really  neat toys that change my fishing bobber into different things like a wooden Pepe, a Tugboat, and a floating cat head. I love the flavour the game has! So far I have 41/60 drowned mana, we’ll see how many more I can catch before my little guy wakes up.

As always, happy gaming no matter where you find yourself!

Settling Down (A Bit)

I love gaming but recently realized that I haven’t really set down roots or settled in any one game for a VERY long time – and it was starting to get to me. It was making me a bit sad. So over the past few days I’ve thought about all of the MMOs that I love to play, and I decided to pick one that requires a subscription and stick with it for the next year. That doesn’t mean I won’t  play other games, I certainly will, but as far as subscriptions go I will not be lured by the next shiny (FFXIV expansions, I’m looking at you).

It wasn’t hard to decide what game I wanted to stick with. With my lack of time, sporadic hours, and inability to know how long I’d actually have to game, only one MMO really stood out. World of Warcraft.

I love the game, it’s cheerful, pet battles are fun, crafting (at least until Legion) is a hoot, and I don’t have to spend hours looking for a group or even a raid. In fact the only thing (for me) that has really been missing from the game is a community.

So I set out looking for one of those, too. I haven’t had areal guild in Warcraft for many years now. I tend to start my own, or join smaller ones created by friends. The Crimson Cross is one I had heard about on twitter (and in WildStar, actually). A casual family friendly guild that still did fun things and also raided. Now, I won’t be raiding any time soon, but eventually my hours will change and I’d like to think I’d have a chance.

The guild is friendly and active, it’s nice just to watch chat scroll by. They have a discord that I joined, and so far I’m settling in pretty well even though I feel like a teenager still in that regard. Even as an adult I feel awkward and shy.

Tonight I finished up my weekly and got my first ever legendary item (the one in the screenshot of this post). It was over 100 ilevels higher than my current gear. I was incredibly tickled. This single piece of gear also raised my personal ilevel high enough to unlock 4 new (to me) raids. If that’s not a good omen, I don’t know what is!

So yes, I will still be playing other games, but my MMO of choice for now and the foreseeable future, is going to be WoW so expect some posts about that, too. Speaking of other games I’ve got my stream schedule planned out for this upcoming week! Tuesday I’ll be continuing on with RimWorld, Wednesday will be a little Sims 4, Throwback Thursday is going to feature Bionic Commando, and Friday will be a visual novel of some sort (I haven’t decided on which title yet). So be sure to tune in between 7-7:30 PDT for my streams on twitch if you’re interested!

It feels good to be doing a bit of gaming again.

Trying for a Love Rocket

Even though life is pretty hectic these days (my little guy is 4 and a half months old now (5 weeks early), where does the time go?!) I still find time here and there to game, whether it’s in 15 minute stints, or while nursing him on the couch (depends on the game of course). It helps keep me relaxed and sane while dealing with the ‘fun’ that is colic, immunizations, growth spurts, and teething. One thing I’ve been trying to do on a daily basis is log into World of Warcraft and run my characters through the Chemical dungeon in an attempt to get the incredibly elusive love rocket. It has a 0.03% chance to drop, and I’ve never seen it before.

I have 20 characters total who can do the run for this mount since they changed the requirements. You can now take anyone from 16-110 through the fairly quick dungeon (there’s only three guys to kill). You don’t get a lot of time to work on getting the mount since it’s a Valentine’s Day event, but hey maybe I’ll get lucky (har har, see what I did there).

Anyone else trying to go after this mount? Anyone actually have it? How long did it take you to get it? Let me know in comments!

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself.

Keeping up With Gaming

In EverQuest 2 things have come to a bit of a standstill. I don’t have the time to LFG to do dungeons, and I’m pretty bored of running the same advanced solo dungeons every day. I log in to craft, get my loyalty tokens, and putter around, but I haven’t been keeping up with my epic 2.0 or progression in any real meaningful way. Since I have so many characters just doing the little bit of daily stuff I do is enough to keep me ‘busy’ but I’m also wondering if it wasn’t a mistake to get a year long subscription. Of course I had intended to play EverQuest with that, not EQ2, so maybe when I have a bit more time I’ll go back to my original plan.

In WoW things are moving along (even if it is at a snail’s pace). I’m able to queue for a few raids a week, I do some world quests, my characters move up the chain of progression. I’m really excited about the new pet battle dungeon coming to the game soon(tm) and I can’t wait to give it a try. I wish pet battles could be done independently of logging into the game (ie: mobile) but things are not so bad. My subscription for WoW lasts until July, so I have a few more months of that left and I’ll probably renew. It’s a good game even with my limited time.

EVE Online. I subscribed with a PLEX and then played once or twice. Truth of the matter is as much as I adore this game (and I do) I really want to play it with TWO accounts and that’s just not viable for me at this time. I probably won’t renew until I can afford to activate both my accounts, so maybe once my EQ2 subscription runs out. Don’t get me wrong, I love the game, I love playing, but I really like both accounts active so I can make full use of things.

Wurm Online / Unlimited. I currently have two active accounts in Wurm Online, Stargrace, and Blesse (a Vynora priest). I’ve got three active deeds (two on Xanadu and one on Independence) and while I haven’t been doing much to them aside from keeping up with the fields and animals, I still enjoy logging in every day. Wurm is one of those games that just really relaxes me. Plus I can leave it up and running while I putter around with my little one in real life. I also logged into Wurm Unlimited to check on my deed there. One had fallen (I re-deeded the place, my buildings and walls were all still standing) over on Sklotopolis, and over on Age of Urath – well, that server is apparently done now. It had a lock symbol by it with no users online. Should have stuck with my first choice! I also noticed a “new” server with the highest population these days, Zaneth. I’m incredibly cautious about new servers because it seems like there’s a huge overturn and you never know if the server will actually stick around but as long as I don’t go off and donate right away (like I have in the past) then I suppose there’s no real harm in checking things out.

In the meantime life is pretty busy. I get maybe an hour of gaming a day, which isn’t anything to sneeze at, and by rotating what I play I keep from getting bored. Of course it does seem that as soon as I settle in to do a dungeon or improve some weapons my little guy is waking up and begging for my attention, but hey that’s the joys of parenthood. He’s 4.5 months old right now, and while things haven’t exactly gotten easier yet, they’re constantly changing.

I hope everyone else has been having a great time despite the turmoil that seems to be enclosing around the world. Are you checking out Conan Exiles? What about ESO’s big announcement today? Did you give For Honor a try? Head to PAX South? Let me know in comments, and as always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself.
