Warcraft Crest Thresholds

I watched a video on gearing up today and learned that there are crest thresholds, and I had no idea.

What does this mean? Well, normally when I get a nice piece of gear, I focus on that single piece and try to level it as many ranks as I can.

This is ‘wrong’ – not wrong, but inefficient. See, if ALL your gear is upgraded to a certain threshold, you will then have no use for those crests, and Warcraft will let you (at a 3:1 ratio) convert them to the next crest up. How did I not know this is a thing?! Right now my paladin is sitting at ilevel 686, and had I followed this method, I’d be converting all of my weathered crests to carved. The problem is I have ONE necklace that is already 8/8 and is my weakest piece, so even maxed out, it doesn’t reach that first threshold. I’ve been doing my weeklies and questing, trying to get a piece to replace it but I haven’t had any luck at all and there are none on the auction house. I imagine that on Tuesday I’ll finally (maybe) loot a neck piece, and be able to get all of my gear above that first threshold so I can convert the now defunct crests to the next tier up.

Sometimes YouTube actually teaches me something (I suppose paying attention in game could have also resulted in the same response, but let’s face it, that’s not likely to happen).

Happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself!

Let’s Save the Bees

I love it when video games take real life situations and then bring them into the game – so while I was puzzled that we spent so much time rescuing bees in the latest campaign quest for world of warcraft, I was also pleased that they were bringing attention to the importance of these little flying critters in their own weird round about way.

The paladin is sitting at 684 ilevel, and I guess I’m one of the folks who somehow got their cloak to 714 before it was supposed to, to be honest I have no clue how that even happened, I didn’t do anything except quest, get my cloak, and pick up the cloak on an alt. Somehow that was enough.

I’m thinking I might tip toe into some M+ runs this weekend, I think 684 should be plenty to get started. I haven’t done any M+ in TWW, so why not now. In the meantime I’m not quite done the latest update to the campaign yet, so that’s on my list of things to get done today. As always, happy gaming no matter where you find yourself!

Gold Making – Week 32 / 2025

Sales have started to slowly pick up again now that 11.2 is here, and I finally got around to leveling up a bunch of pets to 25, and got a few more alts to 80. I treat all the pets that I sell as a level 1 pet even though they’re all level 25. Number one, it helps push them out the door. Number two, I’m using the pet leveling to level up my alts, since it’s really nice and simple. I don’t price them any differently because I’m not using any tokens or anything, and it’s something I would be doing anyway as it’s my preferred method of leveling.

Pets, transmog, and recipes. A lot more pets than normal since I had over 150 to put out there. My banks are still filled with bush chickens looking for homes, I can’t get rid of those fast enough.

As you can see, I don’t do a lot of sales in a week – 61 items sold for just over 2.4 million gold. The items I do tend to sell are sought after by collectors, and I never know when one is going to wander through. It helps that the collector’s bounty has ended, leaving behind a surplus of transmog in its wake. Me? I’m patient. Items will either sell, or they won’t. Each day I just keep reposting until they do. Sometimes I adjust my TSM operations to include a string where as it racks up expires the item also gets discounted, in case it’s just not moving at all. I use this method in particular on overpriced NLA (no longer available) items that have a regional value of 9 million but would never actually sell for that amount. Eventually it drops down to a value that someone is willing to pay.

As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.

Organizing my Characters

One of my favourite things to do, both in game and out, is organization. It comes as no surprise that I’ve spent a lot of time organizing the login screen of my World of Warcraft account (but it seems to never stay that way, as Blizzard shuffles my characters around quite frequently). I have 4 ‘main’ characters on both alliance and horde (those are the VIP campsites pictured). This covers all of the professions minus gathering (which I hate). Then I have 4 of each class in their own respective campsite, too. Not all of the groups are full at this moment, but ideally, eventually, they might be. Right now I have 4 druids, and 4 hunters outside of the VIPs. Everything else is either 1/2/3 depending on how much I play the class (warlocks and rogues are near the bottom of that list). They’re not all at 80 (yet) but ideally I’ll get them there before Midnight (the expansion, not the time of day).

How do you like to organize your games? Maybe you’re one of the lucky few who don’t have an entire army of alts at your side to try to sort (keep in mind, this is one account out of … many, that I have). Let me know in comments, and as always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself.
