FFXIV Goals

Yesterday I hit level 48 on my marauder thanks to the daily roulette, and I’m working through the main story though I’m only in the 30’s for that. I know you can purchase a boost that will unlock all the story stuff from the mog station but I wanted to experience it myself, otherwise what’s the point in playing.

I reached level 35 in mining and I’m learning how much I dislike harvesting 99 nodes for NPC only slightly less than I enjoy harvesting 15 high quality nodes. It’s nice brainless work at least, so I can relax from the daily grind of smushing mobs.

More FFXIV

I’m level 34 on my marauder, further than I’ve ever been before. I also joined my first Grand Company, and unlocked mounts! I feel like experience is so fast I’m probably forgetting how certain systems work (retainers, leves, fates, wth is the golden saucer for and is it still relevant) BUT I am certainly having fun. I also make sure to do my daily roulette which tends to grant me two levels or so…

I am not sure why I never stuck with the game before, but I’m glad I am now!

An Update on Gold

I was feeling pretty burnt out the week I made 1.6 million gold, so I decided to step back a bit from Warcraft and my gold making endevours. I’m still enjoying the game, but dedicating a little less time to it with everything else going on in life. Anyway, I’m sitting at almost 4 million gold once again (the number at the top only represents one character, I have 100,000 gold stashed away on an alt, and 1,000 on every character I have). I’ve purchased Shadowlands for everyone, everyone has their tokens, and now I’m just.. collecting.

For what? I’m not sure. I played a bit of Hearthstone and that was fun, but I am really just a WoW gal at heart. A brutosaur for my husband? Perhaps, but honestly when he’s playing we’re usually together, and he could just use mine. Plus he rarely (if ever) uses the AH. He’s just not that sort of gamer.

I was thinking about hosting a giveaway or two, but I want to have my head fully back in the game before doing so. I’m a bit.. let down.. by BFA. I don’t enjoy the crafting being locked by faction rewards that my alts have difficulty obtaining, and with limited time to play I find myself shying away from grind after grind.

We’ll just have to see.

Bring on the Marauder

I’ve played FFXIV off and on over the years, but I’ve never actually stuck with it before. The highest I’ve ever gotten in any job is 20, and even that was fairly recent. It’s a gorgeous game that has everything I like in an MMO (achievements, housing, pets, collectables) so I’ve always been a bit baffled on the lack of stay power. I think part of it has to do with the fact that I’ve never been invested in the final fantasy world. I’ve never played any of the other games, and have no idea who the characters are.

A few friends of mine suggested that it was actually the class I was playing that was causing things not to be fun. I have always played casters, my last combination was a Conj/Arcanist headed towards White Mage. They suggested I try out a warrior, smashing things with a big axe is apparently a lot of fun.

They were absolutely right. I created a Marauder on a new server with Crimson Cross, a long time guild I’ve known since WildStar days. I joined them there, and World of Warcraft when WildStar was no more, and now I join them again in FFXIV.

Swinging a huge axe IS a lot of fun, and my new character managed to reach 10 last night alongside my husband who also decided to play again. Lets see how far we get into the story this time. There are so many exp boosts (the server has one, RAF has one, being low level has one) that it’s almost impossible NOT to level.

Happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself!

Sales Trickling In

I’ve taken a completely hands off approach to gold making this week because I just haven’t had the time to be in game. Most of the days I didn’t even log in, half of them I didn’t bother putting my stock back up. That means sales have taken a significant slide downwards – but gold is still coming in, even more than my daily goal of roughly 14k.

After playing so hard the previous week (see the 1.6 million gold gain) I decided to step back and just relax. Transmog and pets have been good sellers this week, a few going each day. I didn’t bother restocking any of my supplies, and I haven’t sniped since before 8.3 because it’s just too slow.

While gold is flowing like water for a lot of the bigger goblins, I’m completely happy wading in the kiddie pool. I’ve got over 3.5 million liquid on me, and that’s more than enough for anything I might want to do in the immediate future.

It’s important to take breaks, and I highly encourage it for mental health reasons. Burn out is real, and you shouldn’t feel bad about walking away for a bit. As always, I’ll wander back, it might just take a little bit of time this round. I’ve been playing WoW as my main game of choice for quite a few years now and while I don’t see that changing any time soon, it might have to share my game time with a few other things (like FFXIV, and LotRO).

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself!
