The discord for EverQuest Legends has been an absolute madhouse since it opened, and while I am on the quieter end of things, I do enjoy seeing what everyone else is getting up to. There are a LOT of questions floating around about what sort of game this will be. Very few absolute answers, for now. As we get closer to the release (slated for this summer) and of course the beta, we’ll hopefully get more information.
I did see a few things addressed to some degree. I also took a peek at the ‘suggestions’ section which sort of made me laugh (screenshot above).
People are passionate about their games, especially games that have 25+ years of history attached to them. They also tend to be very vocal about whatever aspect they are passionate about. Some people seem to want ‘original EverQuest’ to which I say it’s right over there. It still exists! The game is still around, there’s still P99 and there’s still progression servers. Go play.
What am I hoping for? I just want to play the game, without requiring a full group. I want to be able to quest, and craft. I don’t have an opinion on multiboxing. Lots of people seem to be against it. I do want to be able to group with friends and family. I’m feeling cautious about the subscription requirement. I think this might hurt them long term, especially because with a subscription comes the expectation of content.
I’m very excited, in any case. I’m hoping I get into the beta so I can help out with that, and I might even stream it or make some YouTube videos in the future. We’ll just have to see.
I was on Discord for a while and it was full of people asking obvious questions that were very clearly answered in the press release. It’s like no-one can read any more. I can’t see what the confusion is. The game is described in considerable detail in the PR material. It’s the same content as EQ had prior to the first expansion, tuned to be soloable even up to the raids, which at that point would only have been the two dragons and Hate and Fear, think. Not that I was ever a raider.
Everything is instanced. Dungeons will be solo but you can group and then you’ll get a group version (Which is how EQII has done it for years.) There’s also difficulty slider, you can mash up three classes to make your own hybrid version and you can upgrade gear by slamming multiple copies of the same item together, just like in any Korean F2P you care to name. All this is in the PR or the dev interviews that came out on Day One.
What else anyone needs to know, other than the subscription price, beats me.

People want to know if you can have 1 pet or multiple pets, they want to know how monk weight reduction works, how races like Iksar where you couldn’t wear plate work if they happen to pick a plate multiclass. Just little details that haven’t been mentioned yet. :) I’m sure there are many more niche questions like this that people are asking and curious about. They mentioned the client is stand alone, and has a new UI, I’m curious about what those things look like and mean. :)
