Back and Forth, Back and Forth

Well, after making a big deal and playing my EU account for most of last week, I’ve already migrated back to my NA account – it’s just hard to give up 20+ years of content, not to mention *all* of my gold making to date has been NA. Will I play both? Probably. Will I focus on obtaining ‘stuff’ over on my EU account? Probably not to the same extent as my NA account, I just don’t have it in me.

That being said, I’ll also need to look for a community some place on NA. To date, I haven’t managed to find a place I call ‘home’. That’s a project to work on at least.

I’ve been farming mounts this week, and trying to get some completion done while the collector’s bounty is live. Mounts have not been dropping very frequently for me (Dragon Soul, I’m looking at you) but I still have some level 80 characters to run through the raids, so there’s time. I did manage to 100% my very first dungeon, which was The Vortex Pinnacle of all things. The only item I needed to complete today was a final achievement within the zone. It requires you to go out of your way collecting 5 glowing balls in awkward places. With a demon hunter (and double jump) this was easy. I attempted it on a few other characters first, not so easy. At least not for me.

I’m also taking care of weekly chores. I’ve migrated to playing my monk for most of Season 2 so far, and I think that will continue for some time. The heat wave has finally passed, and it was a balmy 29C today instead of 40C, much joy was had.

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself.

Just EU Things

Last week I decided to start playing on the EU servers because it better fit my time zone, I’m 4h behind the UK time zones, and 4h ahead of the West Coast, being here in Atlantic Canada. I typically game day-time hours, and go to bed pretty early (9-10pm) which was right when things would typically get started over on NA. Waiting for queues was difficult, and raid times were always so late for me, it was not an optimal experience.

I should have made this change years ago, because so far it has been fantastic. I’m currently playing alliance on the Argent Dawn server, and I have two level 80 characters (a paladin and a hunter) and a handful of 70 characters (evoker, and druid), with some babies (monk, and priest) that I’m hoping to lowly level. Eventually I’d like 1 of each class, and perhaps 1 of each class on the horde side (on a different horde heavy server, when that time comes).

Groups and activity happen when I’m available, which is REALLY different for me, and I’ve just been having an amazing time. I joined up with the community of twitch streamer “Bears Adventures”, who is just a lot of fun. My only ‘complaint’ if it can be called that, is that I took so long to make the change, and also I have so much content to catch up on.

The only thing I truly ‘miss’ from my NA account (aside from the gold) is my pet collection, which I am slowly working on. I’ve unlocked the Legion daily quests so that I can get those pet trainers when they come up, and I do have a handful of level 25 pets now. It helps that you can jump into pet battles for both Dragonflight and The War Within with level 1 pets. You don’t get a lot of experience for them but what you want to do is the dailies that reward charms, and then use those charms to buy pet boosts from the NPC.

We’re in the middle of a horrible heat wave, so I’ve been doing a lot of gaming lately and hiding from the sun (we’re talking 35-40C outside). There should be a break in the heat on Monday, and honestly, I’m looking forward to that.

Happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself.

Brownies and Broken Timeways

Auchindoun always felt… heavy. The air shimmered with lingering spirits, whispers of draenei prayers long since faded. But even in a place like this, I found small joys.

Like the smell of roasting meat.

I followed it past a collapsed archway and nearly bumped into the source: a broad-shouldered human shaman, hair tied back with what looked suspiciously like a piece of cooking twine. He crouched near a campfire, turning a skewer of clefthoof meat over the flames, seasoning it with pinches of salt and flickers of crackling elemental energy.

“Smells amazing,” I said, peeking up at him.

“Should. I don’t burn food,” he grunted, glancing at me briefly before flipping the skewer. His voice was rough, like gravel rolled in ale, but his hands moved with the care of someone who respected every bite they made. “Name’s Hugeo. You eat?”

“Sometimes,” I replied, tucking a lock of hair behind my ear. “Though usually not in the middle of a draenei tomb.”

He snorted at that, and for a moment the grimness of Auchindoun faded, replaced by the warm, smoky scent of cooking meat.

We parted ways shortly after—he back to his skewer, me to my errands with the Timewalking group—but I couldn’t stop thinking about him. Not just the food, but the way his expression softened, just slightly, when he cooked.

So, later that evening, I found a quiet corner, pulled out a small parcel, and packed it carefully: three soft, rich Dalaran brownies, the kind my mom used to bake when I had bad days. Sweet, fudgy, and best eaten warm. I tied the parcel with a simple red ribbon, slipping a little note inside:

“For the road. Sometimes cooking for others is easy. Eating something made for you is harder. –Auremai”

I asked a helpful ethereal to deliver it and went back to sorting my wares.

Somewhere out in the shattered wilds of Outland, a rough and tumble chef was hopefully taking a bite of something sweet. And maybe, just maybe, smiling.

Gold Making – Week 28 / 2025

I was making these posts on Sunday, but I decided to swap it around and I’ll do Monday instead, as it’s just easier to blog then. Big sellers this week were my usuals, patterns, and a few transmogs. There was also small handful of mid tier pets. I ended up doing quite a few raids/dungeons that rewarded crystallized augment runes which I always sell. I use the addon ‘call to arms’ which tells me if there’s a reward satchel up and it has really come in handy.

This week I was all over the place as far as gaming goes. I’ve been spending a lot of time on my EU account because the time zone suits me better and groups are happening when I actually play but I’m also VERY established over on NA, and the prospect of starting all over again is daunting. For now I’ve decided to just continue playing both, but I will probably lean back towards my NA account. I think part of my issue is I really want to find a guild / community to join.

Anyway. Gold making. It went well this week, a bit higher than average, I imagine some folks are returning due to all of the events going on, and the news about Midnight. I know I am VERY excited about player housing, and I’m trying to complete content ahead of time so that I’m ready to unlock any potential housing bits that come through doing that content.

For the details of my gold making, I’m on 20 servers (all NA) and it takes me approx. 1h to post all my auctions each day across those servers. I used to use 2 accounts and post at the same time, but these days I’ve organized it so I’ve just got one account (thank you Warband). I sell between 100-150 items per server (I just fill my inventory once, and restock when I need to from the guild bank). Items are sniped using an API sniper similar to saddlebags, and they take a long time to sell because of the nature of the game (transmog takes forever, etc). Since I have so many items across so many servers, it’s a few sales each day and evens out over time. My number one piece of advice for anyone looking to get into gold making is to be consistent. Just keep at it, keep trying. I’ve been doing this for just under 9 years now and you need to make sure you’re not comparing yourself to other gold makers. I’m small potatoes compared to a lot of them out there, and that’s OK. I use them for inspiration and motivation.

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself!

The Puzzle of Sunveil Hollow

Stargrace’s sandals made little paff paff noises on the sun warmed flagstones as she skipped ahead, arms swinging loosely at her sides.

“So,” she chirped, “do we all finally agree that this is not a trap?”

“It looks like a trap,” Yamini muttered, gripping her shield a little tighter as she eyed the half sunken ruin ahead. Vines curled like claws over ancient spires, and the faint hum of arcane energy pulsed from beneath the moss-covered stones. “Everything about this says ‘trap.’”

“I hope it is,” said Vaelira, leaping from a ledge and landing beside them with a practiced flourish. Her fel-green eyes burned with anticipation. “I could use a little mayhem. Last week was so boring.”

“You were almost arrested in Silvermoon for joyriding a hawkstrider through the Sunspire.” Louves the vulpera priest was not looking up, her snout buried in a thick, rune etched tome. “That’s not boring. That’s criminal mischief.”

“I returned it! Eventually.”

“You crashed it into a garden.”

Stargrace giggled and began hopping from rock to rock along a broken path that led deeper into the ruins of Sunveil Hollow. “Come on, you four-legged grumps. This place hasn’t seen visitors since the Cataclysm, and the spirits are lonely.”

“Who told you that?” Yamini asked, visibly alarmed.

“The wind,” Auremai answered sweetly, and skipped ahead.

Vaelira followed, humming under her breath and cracking her knuckles in anticipation. “This is going to be great.

“Stars above,” Yamini muttered, shifting her shield again. “Why do I always come along?”

“Because we love you,” Louves said, snapping her book shut and trotting to keep up. “And because you’re the only one who can cast Blessing of Protection when Vaelira sets something on fire again.”

“I don’t always set things on fire.”

“You once set soup on fire.”

“It was too flammable! That wasn’t my fault.”

They reached the heart of the ruins, where a circular dais sat half-submerged in a shallow pool, surrounded by six weathered statues. Stargrace twirled once in the center and tapped a tile with her toe. “Puzzle time!”

“I love puzzles,” Louves said, eyes shining.

“I hate puzzles,” Vaelira groaned.

“Yamini?” Stargrace turned expectantly.

“I hate this,” Yamini muttered, already resigned to another long afternoon of chaotic nonsense.

The statues shifted with a grating sound, each turning slowly to face the dais.

“Don’t move,” Louves whispered.

“Don’t breathe,” Vaelira replied.

Stargrace immediately jumped.

The statues stopped.

“…Okay, do move,” Vaelira amended, drawing her glaives. “That was way cooler.”

Over the next two hours, the four friends worked together, bickering, laughing, occasionally dodging blasts of ancient magic to solve the puzzle. Louves deciphered inscriptions. Yamini anxiously monitored their health bars. Vaelira fought a ghost serpent that Stargrace may or may not have released on purpose. And Stargrace?

She danced on the tiles, light as wind, grinning the entire time.

When the dais finally rose, revealing a dusty old chest filled with relics and enchanted trinkets, the four gathered around, breathing hard but victorious.

“See?” Stargrace said brightly. “No trap.”

Yamini looked at the scorch mark on her tabard. “Define ‘no trap.’”

“I had fun,” Vaelira said.

“I documented three previously unknown inscriptions and a teleportation rune,” Louves added with pride.

“I just want to go home and nap,” Yamini sighed.

They stood there for a moment, looking at each other. An odd collection of warrior, wanderer, scholar, and spark, and then Stargrace said, “So! Who’s up for exploring the Witherbark caves next?”

“No,” said Yamini.

“Yes,” said Vaelira.

“…Maybe,” said Louves.

And together, they laughed.
