Giving Away a bit of Gold

This person was saying in trade chat that it was their birthday, so I decided to randomly donate some gold. I sent along a message to them to be on the lookout for it, and this was the resulting conversation. I’ve removed their name for privacy sake, but it was on the Moon Guard server, NA:

[08/24/2025]

12:26 [Winneveve]: I sent you 150k for your birthday – enjoy! It should take approx 1h to get there (it’s not a hoax, just a random person saying have a great day)

12:26: LMAO NO WAY

12:27 [Winneveve]: Seriously, I know it sounds strange. Enjoy though :)

12:28: noooo, you shouldn’t have! I was just messing with the lfg peeps! But that’s super sweet of you, thank you

12:29 [Winneveve]: You’ll have 2 mail because the 1st one I forgot to put G and it sent you 150,000 silver, lol. Have a great day!

12:30: 150k is like…. 3 times what i have LMAO

12:31 [Winneveve]: Aw then you absolutely deserve some! YAY for gold! :D

12:32: I’m gonna spend it in goldshire

12:32 [Winneveve]: Whatever floats your boat ^^

12:33: least judgmental person in the server

12:33: ok queen

12:33 [Winneveve]: Wouldn’t be much fun to give away gold and then tell you how to spend it ;)

Interesting times as always. I like giving away gold here and there, it surprises people, and I hope it let’s them have a bit of a better day. Since I don’t know any of these people it should come as a complete out of the blue surprise. Sometimes that’s a really nice feeling.

Plus, I’ve got lots of gold. If I can help a few people have a better / unique day, why not share some of that around.

As always, happy gaming no matter where you find yourself!

Gold Making – Week 33 / 2025

Time for another gold making update. Welp. I made just over 9 million gold for the week, which was an anomaly of epic proportions. I noticed Valkyl selling off a bunch of recipes and posting about them in the WoW Econ Discord (I happen to be a moderator over that way, it’s a lovely server that I’ve been a part of for many years now) – and it just so happened that I also had over 20 copies of that same recipe, but I had forgotten about it in storage. The downside to having so many guild banks. Thankfully wowthing.org keeps fantastic records of where all my stuff is, so I’ve been using it more and more to hunt for items that I may have stashed aside at one point or another.

The majority of my weekly sales came from those recipes, I dumped them all. While I do have a lot of pets and transmogs that I prefer to sell at a slower rate because they WILL eventually sell, there’s not much use in hanging on to 30+ copies of a recipe just to sell them at an inflated snails pace. I dumped them all off on Area52 and a single person purchased them all, who will probably re-sell them. That’s fine. All of these recipes were purchased well below what I sold them for, even with the discounted quick sell price.

The real surprise of the week came from the Warder’s Shirt sale. There are only a handful strewn across the NA region, and they’re not cheap (although you can absolutely purchase them for cheaper than I was selling). This is an example of one of those transmogs that take a VERY long time to sell, but when it does – it’s very nice. I imagine next week will drop back down to my 1-2m a week sales rather than this enormous number since I don’t really have any more items to dump, but we’ll see.

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself!

Gold Making – Week 32 / 2025

Sales have started to slowly pick up again now that 11.2 is here, and I finally got around to leveling up a bunch of pets to 25, and got a few more alts to 80. I treat all the pets that I sell as a level 1 pet even though they’re all level 25. Number one, it helps push them out the door. Number two, I’m using the pet leveling to level up my alts, since it’s really nice and simple. I don’t price them any differently because I’m not using any tokens or anything, and it’s something I would be doing anyway as it’s my preferred method of leveling.

Pets, transmog, and recipes. A lot more pets than normal since I had over 150 to put out there. My banks are still filled with bush chickens looking for homes, I can’t get rid of those fast enough.

As you can see, I don’t do a lot of sales in a week – 61 items sold for just over 2.4 million gold. The items I do tend to sell are sought after by collectors, and I never know when one is going to wander through. It helps that the collector’s bounty has ended, leaving behind a surplus of transmog in its wake. Me? I’m patient. Items will either sell, or they won’t. Each day I just keep reposting until they do. Sometimes I adjust my TSM operations to include a string where as it racks up expires the item also gets discounted, in case it’s just not moving at all. I use this method in particular on overpriced NLA (no longer available) items that have a regional value of 9 million but would never actually sell for that amount. Eventually it drops down to a value that someone is willing to pay.

As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself.

The Cusp of Season 3

Am I excited about the start of Season 3 coming to world of Warcraft? Well, yes and no. I have been away from the game for most of season 1, and a majority of season 2. I’m excited to be around for season 3. It’s nice to be playing again, and I’m hoping to get some 10+ mythics under my belt. I’m not excited about the dungeon choices, and I think they’ll be rough.

I did spend a bunch of time this morning fixing up my banks. I unlocked all of the regular slots, unlocked the reagent tab, and unlocked void storage on any character under 80. This should allow me to swap over seamlessly to the new system. If you’re level 80, you’ll already get these new bank slots, but I have a lot of auction house characters who do nothing except AH stuff. I wanted them to be able to take advantage of the new system. I also removed anything that was in those banks because last time Blizzard messed with the guild bank system I ended up losing millions of gold worth of items and they never returned them to me. Not fun.

Aside from doing a few more quests to get my ilevel as high as I could (within reason) before the season starts, and fixing up the bank stuff, I haven’t bothered with much else. I did try to get a few achievements that I knew was going away (rk11 delves, etc) but I didn’t go out of my way to complete EVERYTHING. I might put forth more effort into that going forward into season 3, but we’ll see. Anyone else out there doing anything fancy to get ready? Let me know in comments – as always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself.

Gold Making – Week 31 / 2025

Sales have been picking up a bit this week (or they’re just better because I’ve been consistently listing them for once) with a fair number of items selling at high prices (58 items sold, and just under 5 million gold earned overall). It’s all of my usual items which includes older transmog, recipes, and pets. I don’t deal in current tier, or consumables (thinks that stack, like potions, ore, or enchants).

I also learned that the allied race quests have changed a while back – and I finally. FINALLY unlocked Kul Tiran. I don’t play alliance very often these days, and that single allied race has sat locked for ages because (way back when, apparently) you had to do the main BFA story line as alliance for it and I just don’t really enjoy questing that much. It was nice to finally get it done but I probably should have paid attention and realized it changed ages ago. It doesn’t help that a lot of the AI answers for … everything these days, is just plain wrong. Look deeper into the questions you’re asking (google AI told me Earthen were an alliance only face – NOT true at all).

Anyway, it’s another week of sales – slow and steady. What has everyone else been up to? How are your gold making adventures going? Let me know in comments.
