EVE, Wurm, Warcraft – and an Update

I haven’t been very good about blogging regularly for a while now, there has just been too much going on in my day to day to set aside the time for it, so I won’t promise that I’ll be any better about that, but I do still hope to do some semi-regular updates about my gaming adventures. After all, the blog will be 19 years old in June, and that’s something to celebrate. So. What’s up with me?

First of all. I was having a LOT of issues with my web host, and I’ve decided to just migrate back to good ‘ol wordpress. I know they’re the evil corporation of blogs, but they’re also one of the easier ones for me to shuffle off to, so that’s where I’m at. My previous host kept shutting my blog down as AI bots were crawling it constantly creating a bunch of inflated traffic. Then they removed my ability to post pictures (unless hosted at a place like imgur) and still the problems were not solved. I’m paid up until November, so the old version will remain, but all the updates will be here going forward.

EVE – I started playing EVE again. No surprise there. Due to my inactivity I was removed from Signal Cartel (no malice there) and I cannot rejoin until 60 days has passed since I was removed. So far it has only been 32 days. I’m undecided as to whether or not I will re-join. While I do enjoy the corporation, I cannot guarantee my activity levels, and that’s not fair to the corp, really. For now I’m in an NPC corporation and still living in the Wormlife Freeport. I’ve been testing out the ‘new’ feature of PI templates, which is pretty cool (it only took 15 years) but it will also take me some time to create / save templates. Still, I’m thankful that PI got any sort of attention at all.

Wurm Online – Still working on my deed, Quail Landing. This is a castle deed attached to the mainland of Independence. I also created my 3rd deed, over on the Exodus server. This is just a retreat type of deed for when I need a change of pace, or am looking for something ‘new’ to do for a while. Upkeep is set for the next year, so even if I don’t use the deed I can just keep it there and forget about it until I’m feeling that itch again. Yesterday there was a green dragon slaying over on Release that was quite fun to attend, and I also participated in my first rift (well, sort of) this week. I couldn’t attend the actual combat portion, but I did help complete two of the colossus which are part of the pre-event. I earned a lot of rift points, and some rift materials (used for runes). It was fun!

Warcraft – Sadly Warcraft has been my neglected MMO at this point. I keep waiting to hear more news about things like player housing but I feel so out of the loop and I just haven’t had much motivation to log in. When I do log in, it’s for some simple collecting, or just updating a few things. I haven’t done anything re: making gold, or the economy. I think a large portion of this is due to still not finding my ‘people’ in game. I do not have a community I belong to, where as in both Wurm and EVE, I have a somewhat large community of people I can talk with and interact with at any one given time. Still, I’m not ready to cut ties completely. Especially with housing just on the horizon.

Playing anything fun? Avowed? Palworld? Waiting for the latest expansion to your favourite game? Let me know in comments – or as always you can find me these days over on Mastodon and Bluesky.

Happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself!

Everyone is Sick – Game On

Another month, another bunch of bullshit from real life – so I’ve been diving into some cozy casual gaming when I’ve got a few minutes here and there. For the first time in a few years, I decided to place a deed on another server. I currently have two deeds on Independence, one I’ve had for 5 years this year. I adore the deeds, but after time I get tired of how large Independence is. I decided maybe a change of pace would be nice. I did want my new place to be ‘easy’ to get to, sailing out from my Independence deed either South or East (ideally).

That’s how I found myself on Exodus. If I sail out from Independence going East, I end up on the South West coast of Exodus. Turns out there was an almost perfect spot just there, waiting. So I deeded it. I named it Quail Retreat, and I’m hoping to put my priest alts there to get some praying done (and thus, treasure maps). I used to live on Exodus ages ago, but I’m completely unfamiliar with the lands now and I’m excited about this new prospect. It won’t overtake my current ‘main’ deed over on Independence, but a change of scenery is nice.

In that same vein, Moumix has plopped down his very first deed – the first one in over 10 years. He’s going to make it pirate themed, and I’m excited to see what he comes up with (and how long it lasts). At the moment, I still have 5 active characters, which is 3 more than I intended. I’m not sure who I want to continue with, but the alts will slowly drop their premium status over time. Stargrace (my main) and Blesse (my Vynora priest alt) will remain premium since those are the two I purchase a year at a time.

There have been no updates to the game for a few months now. I’m still waiting for docks, goblin camps, and the fabled auction house update that we were teased with years ago but have heard nothing about. Hopefully I’ll have something to report on those fronts in time.

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself.

Puzzle Labyrinth and Crystal Balls

When Moumix asked me if I wanted to go on an adventure, I had NO idea that he meant we would be travelling to Xanadu to participate in the Puzzle King Labyrinth. I was even more confused because I thought that this labyrinth was on Deliverance (and apparently it was, in the past, but had moved) so I wasn’t sure where we were headed.

The puzzle king’s crystal ball was one of the few Wurm Online relics that I was still missing from my collection, and I didn’t want to purchase one because I knew we could still obtain it by completing the maze. It just so happens that I’m also absolutely rubbish at doing mazes – so my first run took around three hours. The maze itself is INCREDIBLE. I have never partaken in something so amazing in game before, and I had an absolute blast trying to complete it, even as the hours dragged on. The amount of work that must have gone into creating something like this is astounding.

Eventually I did complete it, and obtained my prize – which now sits in Quail Cove along with my other collectable items.

Moumix decided to stay behind on his priest alts and he ran them all through as well, obtaining a few more crystal balls. I opted out of this, once was enough.

Working on Quail Landing

For the past week or so, Moumix and I hung out at the Magranon event on the Independence server, collecting ore and purifying the monolith that had spawned. Overall it was quite boring, but since neither of us can mine 90ql ore yet, it would come in handy. Yesterday we each took our characters home, and I resumed working on Quail Landing.

My main deed is (and has been for 4 years now) Quail Cove, an island deed on the SE corner of the Independence server. The deed has been ‘completed’ for quite some time, aside from small changes here and there it remains mostly the same. I wanted to be able to use the highway system to transport bulk goods, so I created a second deed on the mainland of Independence, fairly close to my main deed. This one I called Quail Landing.

The deed is completely different from the island version, a huge sprawling castle with lots of tall towers. I have two more buildings to complete (one being the central ‘castle’) and I’ve been working on crafting large brazier pillars for each of the towers. I really like how it’s starting to look. Once the construction is done, and the braziers are up, I can work on decorating the place. At Quail Cove the ‘theme’ is my capy PMK items (capybara) in teal and pink. Over at Quail Landing, the theme runs along the HOTS colours, purple and black (Horde of the Summoned). These items can currently still be crafted, so they’re not exactly of high value, but they do add lots of pops of colour and interest to the deed (or at least, I think so).

I do also need to complete the docks at Quail Cove, it uses a lot of dirt so I haven’t gotten it done – and I keep waiting for the ‘docks’ update that is apparently coming to the game. It was teased about in 2024, but no ETA was provided. I’m hoping we see them ‘soon’ and it will open up a lot of new construction possibilities. I’d also like to move the highway around my deed at Quail Landing, but again that takes quite a bit of dirt. Independence has dirt – but hauling it to my place is something I just haven’t had the time for.

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself.

Magranon Holy Site (Independence)

I have quite a few posts in mind for Wurm Online, but finding the time is (as always) one of my downfalls. These days I have been hanging out in a crater on the Independence server (I happen to live on that server, so it was quite easy to get to, kudos to Moumix for bringing us there). There’s a Magranon holy site that spawned on December 31st, and lasts for approximately two weeks. During these two weeks followers of Magranon can rummage at the monolith for ore every hour (approx) and depending on the power of the monolith, it will be that quality. Since I’ve been here I have a whole slew of 99ql ore, and quite a few 100ql ore. If you’re not a follower of Magranon you can still participate, as meteorites fall from the sky around the site. If you’ve got good mining skill, it’s free ore. Empyrean is fairly common from these meteorite, and I’m thinking of creating an entire set of tools from it just to commemorate the event.

There are two types of holy site that can occur for Magranon, and I was hoping this one was the other type (the other type spawns archaelogy fragments for items that do not typically have fragments). This one is still a great deal of fun though, and I’m excited because my mining is only in the 80s, so all of this ore would otherwise be something I could not obtain on my own.

I do have 100 faith priest here, along with a 72 faith priest. I probably wouldn’t have made the 72 faith priest a premium character but I forgot all about the 100 faith priest – one of the downfalls to having so many characters. In any case, it has been fun hanging out. Purrs has been here too, and a few other players from the server but for the most part it has been quiet and I just go around mining everything I can get my hands on and hoping for something good.

As always, happy gaming – no matter where you find yourself!
