Even with my limited game play, I’m still able to log into World of Warcraft and feel like I’ve actually accomplished something, which is nice. Being Tuesday, raids re-set, so I queued for some that were looking for healers, and for the first time ever LFR dropped a hidden shadow priest appearance weapon skin for me! It looks awesome. I didn’t even know I could get one that way.

I also managed to complete all my of world quest dailies, which is something I try to do but don’t always manage. Along the way I got my second ever legendary, a wrist piece. At the time that it dropped I could only wear one legendary, but I managed to earn the 5k resources required to unlock the ability to wear a second one. My ilevel is still below 900 at a measly 885, but that’s leaps and bounds above what I was sitting at earlier on in the day.

Oh right, I went back to playing my priest over with the Crimson Cross guild. Why? No real reason except that as much as I enjoy my paladin (and I truly do) I wasn’t in the mood to level, I wanted to do some end game stuff. Plus my priest is still a ‘newer’ character, and doesn’t have max level professions, which means I always have lots to do.

All in all it was a pretty productive evening. I also looked up things to see where I sit as far as flying in Legion goes. I’m not quite there yet, but it doesn’t look like an impossible task. Maybe I can slowly keep chipping away at it.

I was just talking about how I had logged my hunter in, played her a bunch, got her ready for the first tier of raids, and how I was hoping she would become my new main.

NOPE.

I had no desire to log her in over the weekend, so I took a look at one of my paladins. I have two. One horde, one alliance. I prefer horde and I always have even though a majority of my friends play alliance. I’ve faction changed so many times it makes me dizzy. Anyway, I logged my horde paladin in and blew the cobwebs off of her armour, eager to get her first artifact weapon.

I decided to stray from the norm a little bit. I knew my priest played better (ie: easier) when I went discipline due to the heals even though it was less DPS than going shadow. I decided I would stick to my protection stance and get my shield / sword artifact, opting for better survivability over faster kills.

So far, I’m incredibly impressed. Mobs were melting like butter and my paladin is wearing pretty shoddy gear. A handful of heirloom for the experience bonus, and some blues back when the invasions to level up to 100 were a thing. Her artifact was also the easiest one I’ve gotten to date (I have priest, druid, and monk artifacts so far) and it sort of left me scratching my head wondering if that’s all there was to it. NOT that I am complaining!

I picked a zone to start in, and set out to reach level 101. It took me about an hour which made the leveling process seem much more appealing to me. I’ve got 700 blacksmithing but only 200 mining, so my professions are a mixture of odds and ends. So far I’m enjoying playing the character a ton, but the true test of whether or not this will be the character for me is who I’ll be playing next week. If I could just settle down with one character and not 800 I know I would feel so much better about my gaming experiences.

Bouncing around from character to character is sort of my thing in World of Warcraft until something ties me down and I finally settle. Sometimes that’s a quest line I want to work on, achievements, leveling, a guild, or a friend playing with me. Since returning about a month ago I was having a difficult time deciding who I want to play. I briefly discussed it in another post, the fact that I have characters on four different servers, all different factions.

In a sporadic move, I decided to play my hunter just to see where she was at – and after a few days of wanting to play only that character, I settled into a familiar pattern. I forgot how fun it was to shoot at enemies, with a pet (while I’m by myself) or without my pets in a raid situation. I’m not sure what happened to having to level up my epic weapons, but I went from an artifact level of 12 to 51 in a single night. I know that’s not much by the current game play standard, but it was a lot for me.

Her gear was mostly blues that I obtained while leveling, so I set out to complete the world quests that gave gear for a reward. I was too low ilevel to participate in any raids so those would have to wait. Before my first evening was done I had shimmied up to ilevel 825 and could go on the first round of raids.

I didn’t win any loot from those, but it was fun to be playing DPS instead of my holy priest. I adore my priest, but I tend to play that character alongside my husband, and with him still months away from playing, there just isn’t any desire for me to play her.

I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing in game and I quite like it that way. I’m having fun bouncing around completing my smaller random quests and getting re-familiar with what was going on in Legion. I do need to work on some appearance gear, but that’s not a big deal.

Will I stick with the hunter? Honestly I’m not sure. For now she’s a fun distraction, but I really wish all of my characters were on the same server, if not the same faction.

I did end up buying the virtual ticket for BlizzCon this year but because so many things were all happening that weekend (husband home for a visit, extra life, etc) I didn’t get a chance to watch a single presentation, so I followed along on twitter and picked up what tidbits I could.

First of all, I was incredibly pleased to hear that the Hogger costume won first place. I follow the creator on twitter and watching the costume process was incredible. There’s a whole lot of talent there.

Of course I heard about the new Vanilla servers – people have wanted this for ages, and I’m glad they’re going to get it. Will I play? Probably. It’s not a big deal to me though. I don’t lament for those days gone by like I did with the EQ2 progression servers. It will be something neat to check out and that’s about it.

The next expansion has been getting a fairly luke warm reception from friends in my circles, and I haven’t really decided how I feel yet. Most of them are tired of the same ‘Alliance vs. The Horde’ mentality, and would rather see something new. None of the expansion details grabbed at them like artifacts did in the past (or garrisons). I was hoping to see something big like player housing or maybe news that pet battles would be moved to mobile. New races are fun though and I’m sure I’ll make a new character or two to check them out as well as the lore behind them.

I’m enjoying my time in WoW quite a bit. I don’t get a whole lot of time to play, but I’ve been working away at those older achievements and leveling up my gnome warrior. I still prefer to play Horde, but bounce between things. It’s still quite some time before my partner in crime returns to game (3+ months) but there’s lots for me to do on my own.

One thing I’ve always liked about World of Warcraft is just how much stuff there is to do. I haven’t really felt like playing my max level characters, so I returned to some of my alts, and I’ve been working on older achievements. One that I never completed but that I always said I would, is the Loremaster quests. It requires questing in all of the places, and there’s a lot of older zones that I just didn’t get around to.

Arathi Highlands and Badlands are now done on the list, and I can’t remember what’s next but I’m looking forward to it. The quests are far below my characters level, but I don’t mind. I get some coin, some items I can transmute, and a bit of experience. The best part is that the ordeal is incredibly relaxing and not very time intensive so I can do a little bit here and there in between other things and still complete a zone throughout the day and feel like I’ve got something in game accomplished.
