Everyone Knew I would

After playing the illusionist again for a few months, I have (what a surprise) decided to betray her back to a coercer (and get her coercer epic as well). This comes as absolutely no surprise to anyone out there, I know. Over the time I have played EQ2 (since release) I have done the betrayal quest on every single one of my characters, some of them more then once. I would say I have completed the quest at least if not more then 50 times, and it wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

Why do I keep doing it? Well it keeps characters fresh for me – and I have no class specific gear aside from my epic which I can simply do over again.

I miss charm, to put it bluntly, and while yes, I do have an 80 illusionist AND an 80 coercer over on Najena, I don’t want to spend another $50 and a call to San Diego to move either of them.

It does mean that I’ll have to give up my illusionist master spells, but I only have 4-5 of those to begin with and with research assistants and the few TSO zones that do smart loot I’m sure I can collect a few before too long. I already have a few spells including charm which is the most important one. I also have a few level 80 spells that we’d gotten in other dungeons. All that is left is the hard work of working faction up for Neriak so that my little Kerran Ratonga (love those petrified eyes for illusions) can move in comfortably. Crazy? Sure I am, but hey that’s how I play.

Betraying will also save me the difficulty of leveling up my 4th enchanter who managed to hit level 40 yesterday. Coercer or not there’s just no way I can make the treck through 70-80 on yet another enchanter on yet another character. That would make my 9th character to reach T8, and I simply don’t have it in me right now. I would much rather concentrate on the characters I already have and perhaps manage to get ONE of them 200 aa, since I have yet to meet that goal on anyone (though I am getting close).

Last night the guild decided that once we hit level 50 (which is still a ways away) we will purchase a T2 hall. I can’t recall the cost off of the top of my head but I think it’s 500 plat so we’ll have to do some saving for it. It’s a goal in any case. We also headed to the shard of the day zone, Anathema in Everfrost. Nothing of note dropped for us so Arysh (the illusionist / coercer) looted the items so that eventually I can transmute them. I’ve been stock piling my adornments bits in the guild bank so we can get ourselves outfitted nicely when the time comes. We headed to the crucible afterwards to see if any of the bits we wanted would drop (I think we’re all after pieces in there) but alas our luck held true and we didn’t see a single master chest.

On the plus side Ellithia (my mystic) did manage to finish off her T2 void set! Those shoulders (27 shards?!) seemed to take forever. Now it’s just a matter of me not squandering my void shards on the 2nd account. See, the thing is I have my dirge, troubador, illusionist, and paladin all on that account, and all of them are sporting T1 but not T2. The illusionist is sporting two pieces of T2 and hopefully I’ll be dedicated enough to get her geared up first. When you have so many characters, this can be difficult.

I know everyone must be getting very excited about Fan Faire which starts soon, alas I won’t be making it to this one, I simply couldn’t afford the trip. I have my fingers crossed for next year though and I’ll be frantically following everyone on whatever devices I can. I’m sure it will be a fantastic time.

In the mean time, I’ll be in Norrath, no work this week and I am exceptionally happy! I hope everyone has a fantastic Monday, and I’ll see you in Norrath!

Guk: Halls of the Fallen, and Alts

Yesterday actually found us with most of the guild at home – something that has not been happening too often lately, and our lack of instance running has really been noticeable. We’re still doing lots in game though and still talking and hanging out when we can. I always expect things to slow down slightly for the summer months, so it’s nothing too serious, just another blip that I notice.

By early evening we did manage to drag ourselves over to Guk: Halls of the Fallen which happened to be the daily double. I thought that we had done Guk: Lower Corridors but we have not actually been there before, and where we HAD gone, was Halls of the Fallen. This is the instance that requires you to defeat the lord at the end. The last time we had been here it went pretty smoothly and Ultann had grabbed himself the awesome fungus spore charm from the final named. This time around things went even smoother and I left Arysh at home and brought the bard.

Unfortunately the bard didn’t have as much luck as the illusionist did and we didn’t see anything of note at all drop from the instance. The final named dropped a coercer level 80 master which I’ll be saving up for my baby coercer, and also dropped a cloth robe that’s pretty horrible to put it bluntly. Especially when in order to do the instance at all you’d better be sporting T1 or T2 shard gear (which means you have a chest piece already). We were proud that we had finished the zone, but the loots really could have been better for the amount of difficulty in the zone. We also neglected to get the single shard quest from outside the instance, so it was only a three shard run instead of four. Four is still better then none!

Ellithia (my mystic) is 4 shards away from her T2 shoulders which is the final piece she’ll need. I’m exceptionally happy to be finishing off her shard gear finally. Since my 2nd account has three characters who are all in the midst of obtaining T2, it will be a while. I’ve just finally decked them all out in T1, and while I know it’s a slow process since I rarely concentrate on just one character, it’s also nice to see them all get their bits one at a time.

Afterward I had an hour or two to waste and I decided to level up my baby coercer. I miss being able to charm and while yes, this would be my 4th enchanter, my coercer is over on Najena and I don’t want to pay another $50 right away to move her (plus that would require another long distance call to San Diego, and I just did that last week to move the troubador). For now I’ll stick with leveling the baby arasai the old fashioned way.

The transmuter is FINALLY able to break down up to and including level 70 gear, which means I’m officially on T8. My bank has been completely stuffed with items for a little while now that I’ve wanted to transmute and haven’t been able to, and it’s finally starting to dwindle. It will be nice to be able to help the guild out with transmute bits, now we just need a few more crafters to hit 80 and we can make all of our own adornments as well. So far we have the jeweler, tailor and alchemist able to make the T8 adornments, the carpenter, sage, and armorer are not too far behind.

Our little guild of three plus one (I use the term with love, as a nick name, lest anyone think that Kasul is not included in this little guild properly!) is doing amazing. We haven’t managed to find the venekor guild trophy yet, but our hopes are high. Speaking of the hall, we just passed level 45, and we’ve purchased more amenity. A huge thank you to Ultann who spent hours upon hours straight grinding writs in order to get us the levels while the rest of us pretty much slacked, hehe. I have hopes that eventually one day we’ll be able to move into a T2 guild hall, but I haven’t looked into the cost at all yet and I’m not quite sure how a move works – ie: does all of the coin and status we have put into this one carry over or do we start from scratch. Anyone know? I believe it carries over but I’ve yet to confirm it.

In any case, it’s wonderful. One of our best purchases to date has been the shattered lands bell that lets us port to the shattered land zones. These include Antonica, Commonlands, Zek, Enchanted Lands, Feerrott, Nektulos Forest, Thundering Steppes, Everfrost, and Lavastorm. Combine that with our druid portals that we also have and we can reach anywhere with relative ease.

I hope everyone has had a fantastic weekend so far, and it continues to be wonderful! No doubt I’ll be spending the remainder of my Sunday in Norrath now that real life has quieted down some what. It’s nice to have something to blog about!

See you in Norrath!

One more Day of Crazy!

Last day of craziness before things will be able to calm down for me, so I (once again) won’t have much to write about today, but a post is still in order! Yesterday I spent some time (once work was completed) playing my coercer in EQ2, and debating whether to finish leveling up the paladin (she’s been stuck at level 73 for quite some time) or move on to something else. I’m undecided so far. Idealy I should just stick with the characters I have and work on their aa so that they can be ready for the expansion in November, but we all know I’m just not that sort of gamer.

I did manage to dip into Sims 3 for a whole five minutes as well as get some quality Wizard 101 time in which was great, this weekend should give me plenty of time to game too. I was supposed to head to that Medieval Festival but alas it’s not in the cards for me this year. I will be going to the Upper Canada Village though once I can, and have a few other trips planned that will hopefully result in some amazing pictures!

I know everyone is SUPER excited about the SOE Fan Faire, though I am not going this year (pouts) I hope everyone who does go has an amazing time. No doubt I’ll be green with envy as I listen to blog posts, twitter updates, and other various communications throughout the event.

Happy Friday, I hope everyone has a fantastic day no matter where you end up gaming!

Lore for the next EQ2 Expansion – in a book!

Curious about the new expansion? Want to hear a cool new way that it’s being implemented into game? Well here’s what I found out yesterday:

Kiara says: “we’re going to be doing something fun with the lore leading up to the next expansion”
Kiara says: “with the introduction of the player written books, we’ll be putting lore installments in those books and putting them on random vendors”
Kiara says: “the books will only be available for about a week”
Kiara says:  “and we’ll be giving clues on which vendors are carrying them on the forums.  sort of a treasure hunt sort of thing.”
Kiara says:  “and they’ll be written by our lore dev :)”
Kiara says: “we thought it would be a fun way to introduce the new lore :)  the first installment should be coming the week of fan faire.”
Kiara says: “so you guys will have to keep an eye out :D”

How neat is that!

For more information on GU52 and little tid bits that came out during the tour I participated in yesterday, be sure to check out the Beckett MOG forums! I’ll be adding a whole lot of screen shots and other great things that I got to see on the test server later today.

Just a Glimpse!

Busy night and not sure if I’ll get around to posting first thing tomorrow morning (which is my usual routine) so as a teaser post here’s a screen shot of just a small portion of GU52!

Once I get my other articles done I’ve got a whole slew of GU52 information to process and I’ll be posting it over on the new (and improved) Beckett MOG forums, and of course mentioning it here on my site. This is a major GU, and it’s going to be wonderful to see it all go live (slated for the 16th for those who are curious – but that is always subject to change so don’t write it in stone quite yet!) if you’re curious about everything that’s going on yourself, remember you can always head over to the test copy server and peek around!

See you in Norrath!
