Adventures? We’ve got Those!

Screen shot is of the (neglected lately) monk, Ysandria, exploring through Steamfont. Since I spent her lower levels powerleveling her, skills were at an all time low. Having 85/185 deflection is not a good thing especially when those solo blue con mobs are eating you to little shreds. So for a little portion of the evening last night I worked on fixing that. I still have a ways to go yet, but for now Ysandria is not too bad. Along the way I also managed to ding level 38, and finished off a few quests for Steamfont that required me to kill random Kobold, Spiders, Lions, Tigers and Bears (oh my). Ok maybe not those last few, but it was fun none the less.

Kasul and I headed to Vault of Dust, as well as Scornfeathers Roost, both located in the Clefts of Rujark. It was a lot of fun, even though nothing of any note dropped. Kasul (as I spotted this morning) hit level 60, and is climbing steadily. I’m eager to team him up with Petites (my templar) so that he can do all the work while I sit and relax and get her some levels.

Last night Shadowgeist took a small group into KC for some epic updates, I tagged along with (also neglected) Stargrace, who finished off her quest to kill the named in the basement, and got herself some shoulder upgrades. She’s close to hitting 77, and I suppose maybe one day I should finish that off. Especially since she is a dps class and can do it with relative ease. Where as the templar… well. It’s slow. I’ve mentioned that I’m sure (as has everyone else).

I’m thinking of betraying the monk to a bruiser, apparently they’re better on the solo front, which is exactly what I have this character for. It’s not like I couldn’t switch back to a monk at a later date if I choose.

This week is busy with family stuff, so I won’t be around for portions of it, but should still find some time here and there. Next weekend is family stuff again, with random bits of real life interjecting here and there. I’m already eager for winter, and for this heat to end. Yesterday we got some wicked thunderstorms – too bad I’m mighty afraid of storms.

On the crafting front, Silhouette hit level 66 carpenter. I managed to grind out a few more levels before running completely out of vitality and calling it a day. Nostalgia also hit level 19, and a little portion into it. We’re inching up on 20 slowly but surely, and last but not least, there was an apparent Calreth sighting, but that may have been a halucination. Stay tuned for more news tomorrow!

Lesser Faydark Adventures

With Kasul back in town, and Vlcan, and Mayadhros around, the guild was busy as ever last night. It was great to see. We’re a smidge away from level 19, and then it’s only one more level to go before we hit 20 and get those extra bank slots. I managed to grind my way to level 64 carpenter on Silhouette – and I do mean grind. The past few levels she’s only gotten three recipes each level, and they’re really ugly house items that I know I’ll never use, which makes it harder for me to feel inspired to level. I’m inching my way to level 70 though which is when I can start making the REALLY nice stuff, as well as the faction based recipes. I’m looking forward to it.

So anyhow, last night Kasul was off to Lesser Faydark to do a bit of leveling, and of course I asked if I could tag along with Misako, the 58 necromancer (since we’re both the same level). I had never even taken her to the zone before. My necromancer is an old character, and she was created before aa were released. While Kasul has edged past his 80th, Misako is barely into her low 40’s. I respec’d her to a tank pet line which seemed to work out pretty well. Though I did end up getting Kasul killed once, we had a named and two other fairy things on us that knocked him around pretty good. The fantastic things about necromancers though is that we can feign death (I did, in order to let my pet finish off the encounter) and we can also rez. Just doing the few quests around the shadowman area, and the greater faydark entrance, brought me to 60% experience. I was starting to feel tired, so we called it a night. I headed to East Freeport where I did a few cheap quick collections that dinged me the remainder I needed, and Misako is sitting comfortably at level 59 now. Won’t be too long before I’m smacking vampires around in New Tunaria.

Earlier on in the evening Growlius and I headed into Vanguard to kill more undead, but my heart just wasn’t into it and so after half way completing some quests we had, we called it early and we’ll pick it up another time. Not a big deal, just some times you don’t feel like playing a particular game that night. It happens!

Ching Ching

Every morning (typically) when I wake up, I log into EQ2 and like some sort of wierd tradition I log Stargrace in to see how sales have gone and replenish her food and drinks for sale. For the last week or so without fail she’s been sold out, every day. Now granted, I don’t make a great deal to put up for sale at one time, I make a stack of 20 of three specific types, each of them the special recipes you get with faction from RoK.

The recipes cost me 75s to make one, and as you can see, I sell them for 4g each. Cheaper then the next person by 1g. I could probably also sell them at 5g each but I think that 4g is just right for these 30 minute food and drinks. Oh, that’s right. They don’t last nearly as long as the ‘other stuff’.

So why the mark up in price? Aside from the obvious factor – the work I went through to get the faction, there’s the quality of the food itself. This food that’s selling out every day is mostly the +2% parry food. It’s either a 2% parry base, or 2% parry + 16str or 16stam. Great for those tanks out there.

I do check to see if anyone is reselling the food and drink as well, though it wouldn’t bother me if they did, I still made a huge profit where as they’d be making 1g profit if that. Sure, 1g is 1g, but there’s far better ways to make money out there.

After creating so many new alts (defiler, and monk) and spending roughly 30p between them for gear and levels (via collections) it only took me a week to make that back – from food products alone and from Goudia’s two days of harvesting. Transfer that into something worth while that makes coin, such as farming the named in Jarsath wastes who have a chance to drop legendary chests (and if you’re really lucky you’ll get trooper scale boots, which still sell easily for 50p here on Najena) and you can quickly see how making coin in EQ2 (end game at least) is really simple. Not to mention the trash that each mob drops sells for roughly 20g (we’re talking the set pieces of armor that no one wears).

Still doesn’t mean I’m going to spend 100p on a master, but hey, it’s fun.

Electric Guitar Ramblings

It’s finally done.

After much harvesting, and killing, and generally running around in some sort of chaotic dance, yesterday I finished my second epic, the troubador one. Doesn’t it look shiny? The last parts were actually the easiest for me. After the xegonite fiasco (did you know this quest doesn’t even take those from you? So you’re left with the 10 xegonite after.. why couldn’t they just have wanted the 33 I had in my bank!) I had to go feed the flame in Jarsath Wastes. Did that and then it was off to Sebilis. Thank you to Albrta and Eyenstein who trucked down there with me and Shadowgeist (again, we’d already all been there for my coercer epic, as well as Albrta’s templar epic.. but hey what else do we have to do) and killed some named and place holders. Once we’d gotten our fill there we headed to CoA. The group was one of the oddest I’d been in to date, it was a troubador, dirge, templar, inquisitor, shadowknight, and warlock.

We plowed right through though with no issues at all.

Once that was done it was off to Maidens for my final bit. We had one death on the first named (the tail-lashing one who ports) but everything died smoothly the second time around. The group changed after that CoA run, and we went with a coercer, assassin, templar, mystic, troubador, and shadowknight. Drusella fell with no issues, and – if I read the quest right, I was supposed to click on the four instruments scattered around Drusella’s room in the corners – and then fight a level 82^^^ and THEN get my fabled.

At least, that’s what I read.

Which was wrong. I had the group stand around after the kill expecting to have one more kill. The coercer didn’t pay attention and gated out after (oh well) and we stood around some more while I frantically searched for musical instruments, apologizing to the group for the wait.

After a few minutes, I noticed the glowing instrument close to the door, I clicked it expecting to see three others, and before I could even turn around I was holding my epic.

WOOT!

The epic quest for troubadors is one of the best if only because you get a HOUSE ITEM upon completion. That’s right, that sparkling bit just behind Goudia in the screen shot is her newest pretty, and it plays music notes *squeels*. It also has 400 rent reduction. I really wish each of the epics came with a house item. The coercer could come with a statue replication of the chick who spends the entire quest stuck inside your body. That would be awesome.

Aside from completing my epic, I didn’t have a chance to spend any more time in game yesterday, or in any game for that matter. I have been playing around with Daz Studio a little bit, which is a 3D rendering program, and I’m having fun with it. You can see my first few attempts over here. Hopefully as time goes on I’ll get better at it. I took a little break just before 10 to go relax, and before I knew it I was waking up and it was midnight. Crawled into bed and called it a day.

Hope everyone else had a fantastic weekend too!

Plains of Anguish

It was time to get out of the sand, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Growlius and Faydai (dread knight and blood mage) have been in Qalia for the past few levels working on quests. After all that bright blinding sand (and it’s not any fun having that grind against plate armor, or so Growlius complained) it was time to head some place darker. Some place spooky. There’s only one place that came right to mind when we thought of that.

It was time to head to Plains of Anguish.

PoA is located on the North Western section of Thestra. It’s dark, rains practically all of the time, and there are always scarey things poking through the woods. After grabbing a rift, we wandered around.

The starting area of this is such a nice change from Qalia. We picked up 14 quests, and I was pleased to see that this quest hub had a banker, exchange (broker), and general goods all relatively close to one another.

Once we’d taken care of the basics, we set off to find undead to smush. Not difficult, they’re all over. Even the quest givers were some form of undead. I admit now, that I know absolutely zero lore about this chunk. I don’t have any idea why I’m smushing undead, because yesterday was about levels and not about actually reading the quests – which was fine by me.

Blood mage and dread knight are a fantastic combination. We were taking down three dots and four dot adds our level (and higher) with relative ease. It helps (a great deal) that blood mages basically have an endless supply of power to heal with – so long as we’re not being hit.

We managed to clear out a lot of quests – even though we’re not the fastest of killers, it was a lot of fun. Just being out of that sand meant so much. It was a refreshing change of pace. There were plenty of people around in other groups and duo’s also working on their PoA quests, which was nice to see. The regionsay channel was alive and well as always, and the craft channel too. I haven’t started looking for a new guild yet – but I will eventually, as it’s getting lonely not being in one. For some reason my UI is completely missing the guild tab, and I’ll have to look into that (and perhaps install the default socials window to get it to work). Dang I hate all that technical stuff.

On a side note, I downloaded Daz Studio, and Victoria4.2 (base) and I’ve been playing around some with that. I know absolutely NOTHING about the program though and it’s going PAINFULLY slow while I try to teach myself. I am not a computer person, at all. So if there’s any Daz Studio guru’s reading this, please drop me a line!

Anyhow – by the time all was said and done, Growlius and I reached level 41, and 30% or so into it. Fantastic! I also managed to complete one of the MEST collections, though I haven’t turned it in because it’s so far out of the way. I’ll start on that tomorrow or later today maybe.

I hope everyone else’ weekends are going just wonderful!
